Cut an MP3
Trim an MP3 to the part you want and save it as an MP3 again, without uploading it anywhere.
Your file stays on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
How to cut audio
- Choose a song or recording: MP3, M4A, WAV, FLAC, OGG, or a video whose sound you want.
- Play it, pause where your part starts and press "Use current time" under Start; do the same for the end. "Play the part" lets you hear exactly what you keep.
- Add a fade if you like, pick the format and press "Cut audio".
Which format to save
We keep your file's own format unless you pick another. Cutting means the sound is encoded again; MP3 and M4A at 192 kbps sound the same as the original to almost everyone.
| Format | Good for |
|---|---|
| MP3 | Plays everywhere: phones, cars, old players |
| M4A (AAC) | iPhone, Mac and iTunes; a little smaller than MP3 at the same quality |
| WAV | Editing: no quality loss, but about 10 MB a minute |
| FLAC | Keeping lossless quality at about half the size of WAV |
| OGG | Games, Linux and some web players |
Your files stay on your device
Nothing is uploaded. Cutting runs in your browser, so voice notes and unreleased songs stay private.
