Make a slow-motion video
Slow a video down to see every move. Clips filmed in your phone's slow-motion mode look the smoothest.
Your file stays on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
How to change a video's speed
- Choose your video.
- Pick a speed from 0.25× (four times slower) to 4× (four times faster). The preview plays at that speed.
- Press "Change speed" and download the MP4.
What happens to the picture and sound
Faster: frames are shown sooner, so a 2-minute clip at 2× becomes 1 minute. Slower: each frame stays longer. Slowing down doesn't invent new frames, so 0.25× of a normal 30 fps phone video looks choppy; slow-motion clips filmed at 120 or 240 fps look smooth.
The sound is sped up or slowed down with its pitch kept, so speech stays understandable. The result is an H.264 MP4 with AAC sound that plays everywhere.
How long it takes
Changing the speed means encoding the whole video again, with a video engine that runs in your browser on any device. Expect roughly as long as the video plays for a 1080p clip on a laptop, longer on a phone. Short clips are quick.
