Make audio louder

Turn up a quiet recording, song or video, up to +20 dB, with a limiter that keeps the sound from crackling.

Your file stays on your device. Nothing is uploaded.

How to make audio louder

  1. Choose the recording, song or video.
  2. Pick how much louder: +10 dB sounds about twice as loud. Or choose "Even out the loudness" for a recording that is too quiet in some places and too loud in others.
  3. Press "Change volume", listen to the result and download it.

Louder without crackle

Simply turning a file up pushes its loudest moments past what a file can hold; they get cut flat and crackle. We put a limiter after the boost: it lowers just those peaks a little, so the rest gets louder and the sound stays clean.

Evening out the loudness measures the whole file the way streaming apps do and sets it to −16 LUFS, a common level for podcasts and spoken word.
